The project kick-off and coordination meeting for the DaReM project was held in Bratislava on Monday, 11 December 2017. The meeting was held at the SOREA Regia Hotel in the Kráľovské údolie area of Bratislava.

The kick-off meeting was attended by representatives from the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Transport and Construction, VODOHOSPODÁRSKA VÝSTAVBA, ŠTÁTNY PODNIK (VV, š. p.), Slovenský vodohospodársky podnik, š. p. (SVP, š. p.), the Waterborne Transport Development Agency, the Water Conservation Research Institute, Verejné prístavy, a.s., the Danube Commission, Via Donau, the Transport Authority, the Bratislava Regional Conservation Association, the Slovak Ornithological Society, the State Nature Conservancy, the World Nature Conservation Fund and the Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Government for the construction and operation of the Gabčíkovo-Nagymaros Waterworks.

Among the guests of honour were Norbert Kurilla, State Secretary from the Ministry of Environment, Ing. Jozef Moravčík, Director General of the Water Transport Section at the Ministry of Transport and Construction, Ing. Vladimír Novák, General Director of the Water Section at the Ministry of Environment, Ing. Daniel Kvocera, CEO of Vodohospodárska výstavba, š. p., Ing. Štefan Polhorský, deputy to Ing. Jozefa Dúcza, Director of the Bratislava offices of Slovenský vodohospodársky podnik, š. p., and Ing. Martin Boroš., Director of the Waterborne Transport Development Agency.

The meeting began with addresses from the guests of honour and a short presentation from Ing. Peter Vyžinkár from the Waterborne Transport Development Agency concerning CEF projects within the first and second call for projects within the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF). The “Fairway Danube” and “Upgrade of Gabčíkovo Locks” projects are focused on challenges on the Danube.

Kick-off meeting for the “DaReM – Danube Rehabilitation Measures” project

The DaReM project is another project focused on resolving specific challenges on the Slovak section of the Danube and specifically at the Hrušov reservoir. The DaReM project is from the third call within the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).

The meeting continued with another presentation from Ing. Norbert Halmo from Slovenský vodohospodársky podnik, š. p. covering the activities of this state-owned enterprise. Ing. Dušan Voleský from Vodohospodárska výstavba, š. p. then gave a presentation on the DaReM project. He presented the organisational structure of the project, specifically the project beneficiary, the Ministry of Transport and Construction and the implementing bodies: Waterborne Transport Development Agency, VV, š. p., and SVP, š. p. He also presented project activities, current conditions and the primary objectives of the project.

The kick-off meeting ended with an address from Ing. Martin Boroš, Director of the Waterborne Transport Development Agency.
